There are a number of midwives working from the consulting rooms located at MAMA Inc. – 13 Coyle St, Sandringham. These midwives provide full continuity of midwifery care to pregnant women during pregnancy, labour, birth and for 4 – 6 weeks after birth. All these midwives are skilled and experienced in providing care for women/couples who want to give birth naturally and to breastfeed their babies.
If you live in the Central Auckland area and are planning to give birth at home, at Birthcare in Parnell, Waitakere Hospital or at Auckland City Hospital, are interested in waterbirthing, or are planning a vaginal birth after previously giving birth by c-section, or are a healthy woman expecting twins – there’ll be a midwife @ MAMA who can support your choices.
All Midwifery care is fully subsidized for NZ citizens and residents and holders of current 2 year work visas.
These midwives are self-employed so manage their own bookings you will need to contact them directly if you want to make an appointment to register with one of them. Please be aware that although midwives may have indicated availability that they only book 5-6 women per month so any availability can disappear in a few minutes! In addition midwives book a combination of first time mothers and women who have already given birth each month. A midwife may seem to have availability but she may only actually have bookings available for women who have already had a baby – these women tend to book a little later in successive pregnancies.
